The European Commission has accepted the quotation from Systemat Luxemburg PSF SA in association with manufacturer HP and ICT service provider Getronics.
LASNE, 09 November 2009 - Systemat announced today having obtained, through its Luxemburg subsidiary, the APS II server contract at the European Institutions. This contract with a max. term of 4 years concerns the acquisition of nearly 5,000 servers (maximum) as well as installation, maintenance and consultancy services.
In order to obtain this important contract, Systemat has opted for the BladeSystem and Proliant ranges from the manufacturer HP and has joined forces with the service provider Getronics.
All quotations presented for this contract in the open call for tenders had to meet numerous criteria, such as being able to provide a range of high-performance and scalable servers, to deliver support on all establishments and to offer a realistic service level agreement covering all technical and logistic needs. The European Commission decided that the Systemat-Getronics-HP partnership presented the offer with the best quality/price ratio for this public procurement procedure.
For Systemat Luxemburg and its EIS team (European Institutions Solutions) in particular, this represents, only a few months after having obtained the MEQ 2009 contract for ‘mobile’ equipment, another important success.
For Bernard Lescot, General Director of the Systemat Group, it confirms Systemat’s re-found health and that all the hard work of the Luxemburg subsidiary for the European Institutions has proven to be fruitful. “I am proud that a long-time client still believes in us, and I am very pleased to be able to announce the good news to our personnel and shareholders just a few days before the company’s 25th anniversary. This new contract shows that Systemat meets the expectations of this strategically important client perfectly.”
Besides the European Commission, 31 other European institutions, agencies and bodies are also part of this contract. The geographic spreading concerns the 27 member states of the European Union as well as countries in the world where the DG RELEX (External Relations) has its Delegations.
The awarded market amount (maximum value of the contract) for the Commission and all participating European institutions, agencies and bodies is 31.792.890,22 EUR, which encompasses hardware, maintenance and related services.
All the equipment will pass through Systemat’s Technical Integration Center, in Jumet (Charleroi), where the servers will be prepared before being installed in the different establishments of the European Institutions. In order to ensure this deployment, Systemat cooperates with Getronics, a service partner with international scope.
“We are delighted to leverage, with both Systemat and HP, our outstanding and long experience within the European Commission, our customer centric approach and our know-how in terms of infrastructure management” said Jean-Claude Vandenbosch, Executive Vice President and General Manager Getronics Belux. “The state of the art technology of HP, a long time trusted and appreciated partner, combined with our successful teaming up with Systemat definitely will contribute to the quality of the solutions delivered.”
At HP, we are looking forward to supply up to 4,780 servers to the European Institutions.
“This contract demonstrates HP’s standing as a long-time trusted technology provider for the European Institutions” says Francesco Serafini, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, HP, EMEA. “HP BladeSystem and Proliant servers technology will allow increased hardware utilisation, improved energy efficiency and reduced data centre costs.”
The first orders and deliveries for this contract have started on 7 October 2009.
